Testing High School athletes is a necessity now a days because the use of steroids in high school is increasing. In the latest study shows that 3.5 percent of high School athletes admitted to taking steroids, even though that seems like so little, it is actually a 67% increase since 1991. The big problem is that schools think they can't do anything about it, so instead of trying to solve and fix this problem. The main excuse the schools are using, is that they can't afford the $50 for each steroid test.
We buy, idolize, and worship these athletes because they are big, strong, and fast. We want to be just like them and make millions of dollars like them. What kid doesn't want all the stuff a pro athlete have like fame, popularity, and most of all money.
What kid doesn't have the dream to be a professional athlete and make millions of dollars. It used to be if a kid wasn't strong he would lift weights, to become bigger and stronger, but now a days we have resorted to cheating by using these performance enhancing drugs. Kids are prone to doing this because they see their role models, and people who make millions taking these drugs.
We need to help these kids by informing them about the risk of using these drugs as well as do something to stop them, the way to stop them is simple, that way is to test for steroids in high school.
